Sample Letter for Credit Repair
If you are looking for a sample letter for credit repair, let me know, I'll send you one. Here's some tips so you exactly what
you should contain in the letter to be successful.
Step 1.
The most important thing to do when writing a dispute letter is to keep it short and simple. Avoid long, drawn-out sentences
or paragraphs describing the disputed item. Avoid giving specific reasons for disputing the item.
Add some emotion to the letter explaining how the item will be "damaging" to your report and your future creditworthiness.
Step 2.
Be very specific in your letter. For example, if you have a false late charge, indicate on the letter that the charge is not yours.
Or if the account listed is yours, state that the right account number is on your report, but you were never late with your payments.
Bottom line, be very specific with the disputed item and don't write long, drawn-out sentences or paragraphs.
Step 3.
Tell the credit bureau what you want to happen. If you want the item deleted from your record, tell them. For example, "Please
remove all reference to the late payments on this account."
Step 4.
Always provide proof of your claim. If you have proof that you have paid-off a debt that still shows on your report, or you paid a bill
on time, yet your report doesn't show that, provide the proof. If you still have the record that will "prove your innocence", you
must enclose it within your letter.
A great book I read on credit repair and credit building called "From Credit Repair to Credit Millionaire" was very helpful in this
process for me. In the book, the author states the most powerful words in a credit dispute are "I don't recall."
In your letter write something similar to this:
"I don't recall this (negative item). Please investigate it and report back to me within 30 days, or remove the item from my report
and send me a corrected report."
